Montgomery, AL — A leaked opinion draft from the U.S. Supreme Court that could indicate Roe v. Wade may be overturned has many Americans worried about the possibility of unprecedented times when it’s difficult to have an abortion in Alabama.

Alabama has abided by the original Roe v. Wade decision, the landmark case that protects a pregnant woman’s right to an abortion, as has every state. Since the decision in 1973, it has always been a place where a woman is able to get a safe and legal abortion.

“I can’t even imagine. What is Alabama if not a place where people have rights?,” said local resident, Raymond Worthington.

The possibility of Roe being overturned has residents of states like Alabama, a state that has abortion clinics on just about every street corner and gum ball machines filled with birth control pills, extremely concerned about the brave new world they may wake up in tomorrow.

“People come here from all over the world to get abortions. Roe being overturned would be devastating for the local economy,” said Steven Reed, mayor of Montgomery.
